CRAFTCAST'S Artisanal Polymer Bangles with Claire Maunsell

Artisanal Polymer Bangles

Instructor Bio:
90 minutes

Join Canadian artist Claire Maunsell and learn how to make these artisanal bangles from polymer clay. Claire starts with a simple lump of premium clay and shows a few ways to create a strong and light bangle form. Plus learn her foolproof way to make a perfect personalized bangle fit.

Then the coloring fun begins! Claire shows how to use texture and printing techniques to get complex patterns onto the surface of your bangle. Crackle is one of Claire’s signature styles and she shows exactly what you need to know to get this look too. Then watch close-up and learn how to use a variety of carving tools to create textures and markings - and how to enhance those with color and contrast.

Whether you’ve been wanting to give polymer clay a try or want to add more coloring and texturing skills to your arsenal, you’ll love this class.

As a special BONUS, Claire will show you how to create a “tubular” pod earring complete with texture and coloring how-to!

I so enjoyed working with this tutorial! It's given me lots of new techniques and ways to create using tubes as a basis for design. Claire's use of color is exceptional and her choice of tools and paints has also opened new vistas for me. I'm just not a cane girl, and Claire's way of working with polymer is so freeing! As a newcomer to polymer I highly recommend this tutorial as a way to get started working with clay in a way that's not intimidating. This class has truly been a breakthrough for me. Thank you Claire, and thank you Craftcast!

Hi I am interested in taking this class. However, I can't seem to find Viva Crackling Paint in White anywhere online. Would this be a good alternative?
If not, can another be recommended? Thanks so much,

Hi Jill, I have used the FolkArt Medium Crackling Paint and it worked well. There are a few different ones out there that are worth trying. :)
