Learn to Make a Peek-A-Boo Pendant from Metal Clay

Instructor Bio:
260 minutes

Join master metal clay artist, Pam East, and learn how to make this movable parts metal clay peek a boo pendant!

“I absolutely love jewelry with secrets. Over the years I have incorporated hidden compartments, tiny jewels on the back, and other details only the wearer knows. Those secrets make a piece that much more delicious, and that much more fun to wear and share with friends.“ ~Pam East

Pam will show you step-by-step how to create this pendant with a hidden element or scene inside that only YOU know about! When you wear it, the lid of the box slides back and forth, giving just a “peek” of the secret inside.

The class will cover handling metal clay, both wet and dry construction for the box, creating the hidden elements, proper firing, patina and polish, and finally the riveted bail that makes the whole thing work!

BONUS videos will include how to create two alternate shape peek-a-boo boxes, complete with printable patterns.

Over 4 hours of video instruction!

Hi, is this class appropriate for a TOTAL beginner? I am a polymer clay artist who has never used metal clay, not even once! Will we learn where to purchase all materials, and will we be creating the pendant during the actual class? Or is this something we should do after watching the class? What device is used for firing?
Thank you! SAM

Hi Sam, This is not a total beginner class, but that being said you can rewatch the video or pause the video while doing the next step. Every class comes with a handout with resource links for supplies and yes, this is the actual pendant made in the tutorial. Pam uses a kiln for firing. Pam will address that during class.

Will this class be available as a download later? Im not available that day.

Hi Jo
The download is included when you purchase the LIVE class. So no worries if you are not available at that time. And you get BONUS material as well. :)

Sterling silver tubing is listed as a material. What diameter and how much?

Sterling Silver Tubing .059” OD

Can you use the Beehive Ultra Lite to fire?

Really not recommended. Too big a piece for a beehive firing.
