About this class

About this class

Watch as as awarding-winning artist Vickie Hallmark shows how to extend the possibilities of metal clay by combining it with Argentium silver wire and sheet. Vickie reveals her philosophy of designing and building floral components from basic shapes in metal clay.

Argentium is easier to fuse than fine silver, requires no solder, works beautifully with a butane torch, and even fuses to base metal clays!

Watch close-up and learn how to FUSE fired metal clay pieces to simple Argentium silver wire or sheet structures to support and highlight the metal clay focal pieces.

Learn step-by-step how to form silver rings around a metal clay floral focus piece, cut simple shapes from sheet metal, then fuse on appliqués to finish off your design.

Ms. Hallmark explains how to choose the best material — clay, sheet or wire — for each situation, plus her creative approach of adding texture to a variety of metals.

Vickie also shares her methods for embedding components, adding patinas, and heat hardening for tarnish resistant metal.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from a pro and add these metalsmithing techniques to your creative skill set.
