About this class

About this class

Join metal clay artist extraordinaire JJ Singh, and learn how you can make your own unique Family Crest Pendant from metal clay.

In the 17th – 18th centuries, women often wore watches attached to the waistband of their gowns. The word FOB came to describe the chains and charms that dangled from them. Many FOBs included a personal seal that could also be used to ensure the privacy of your letters to loved ones. ?JJ will show you how to make a Victorian-inspired FOB with your own custom seal.

Watch close-up as JJ shows you how to use Adobe Draw, a free app, to sketch elements unique to you and your family. You could use a variety of photo images; a favorite flower or tree or even your pet. No worries about your sketching abilities. JJ shows you an easy way to replicate your images.

Then learn how to use all the elements to design your own “coat of arms.”

Once the coat of arms is complete, see how to use Silhouette software to etch and cut the components from your metal clay. Follow along as JJ shows how to construct the hollow form, set small stones, and decorate to complete your pendant seal.

PLUS, construction template SVG file that JJ used in the demonstration is included.

And as an added BONUS, JJ will teach you how easy it is to etch your newly designed coat of arms onto the lid of a glass jewelry box!

Get ready for lots of creative fun and inspiration!
