How to get unstuck and back to creating!Wednesday May 16, 2012
Are you stuck, like really stuck and can’t get moving?
How about this:
Your bored with all your creative supplies or half finished projects, and feel you’re living a lie about being an artist?
You find yourself on the couch watching TV reruns of reruns?
You caught a reflection of yourself while out shopping and realized you’re wearing the same sweats you slept in the night before and the night before that?
Anything sound familiar.
No matter what, we all get stuck sometimes.
But what we do to get unstuck is what counts.
DO NOT waste any more time.
Take control over your “stuckness”. Changing from stuck to gliding along can happen faster then you think.
Here are some ideas to help get you going.
I don’t want to do that.
Close you eyes for a minute and think of the one thing you really really really don’t want to do? The task you’ve been putting off for months. The thing that makes you sick to your stomach every time you think about how you haven’t done it yet. You know, the one thing you’ll do anything to avoid. Here is the harsh truth. If you tackle THAT thing, the one you’re avoiding most, the “sticky trap of stuck” will start to lose it’s hold. So, bribe yourself, promise yourself a treat, beg a friend to help, dig down deep and trick yourself to get that task started and finished, and get that monkey off your back.
Change your routine.
Try changing your morning routine. How you start your day sets the groundwork for how the rest of the day unfolds. Get up 30 minutes earlier and take a walk, or sit in a different part of the house and day dream. Even the smallest change can startle our brains out of that stuck feeling. Making a change is what’s key here, and don’t underestimate the power of even a small change.
Do something you love.
There is nothing that gets us unstuck faster then doing something we love. Being involved in the moment and having fun is the fastest way to clear out all the stuck energy and getting in the flow again.
Give it a try.
Make it a game and see what happens.
Once the energy is in motion, watch out.
Things get unstuck fast.
