A Checklist for Artist Online Success

A Checklist for Artist Online Success

Thursday September 6, 2012

I love a checklist.
Don’t you?
Even for the simplest things.
It keeps me focused.

Sometimes I write down a task even after I’ve done it, just so I can check it off.
I know, a bit crazy, but it feels good when something gets done and I like the reward of the check.

When you break it down, success is made up of lots of little checks.

Like if you want to succeed at losing 10 pounds, you pass up a favorite cupcake staring back at you from the dessert buffet, or you make it to the gym that day despite the laundry that is piling up and the emails that need to be answered. Or maybe you change your routine to exercise first thing each morning, so you know it gets done!

Check, check, check!

Yep, success is hidden in those little check marks.
Each one adding up to make a big success!

So here is a checklist of a few things to get you focused on building your online artist success.
Each one is easy.
But they all add up to create a successful online artist presence.

Order those new business cards.
Like the Boy Scouts of America say, “Be Prepared.” It’s never good to run out of cards just when you need them, or to hand someone a card and say, “That’s not my email address anymore, and my phone number has changed too...”
Go to moo.com, pick a fun design and you will have new cards coming your way in no time.

Clean up your email list.
Get organized with your email list by signing up for a program like mailchimp.com or constantcontact.com. If you have a list of names that is in the 1000’s, check out officeautopilot.com.  Staying in touch with your customers is so important for online success, and these programs have lots of ways to do that.

Create new content on your blog or website.

Google is always checking for new content, and it’s one of the ways your website has a better Search Engine Optimization rating (SEO) That’s a long way of asking, how easy is it for your customers to find you online? If a potential customer types in the search bar key words that describe your business, do you come up on the first page of results? Creating new content regularly will get you better ranking and move you up the search engine results list.

Be generous.
Yep.
Give away some of your best tips or techniques for free. You know you have lots of great information to share, and sharing it is one of the best ways to get better known online. So hold a free webinar or announce on your blog a free PDF tutorial. This is one of the best ways to get meet new potential customers. Programs like gotomeeting.com and maestroconference.com have 30 day free trials. So give it a try.

and

Don’t forget to take care of you.
Eat, sleep, exercise and repeat.
The 3 basics needed to be checked off everyday.
We know it.
End of story.
Just do it.
(thank you nike)

Moo is More

Thanks for passing on that great website. I've always thought that the feel of a business card is as important as what it says. The people at Moo.com understand that and they have come up with a card that imparts quality and style. That's where I will go next time I need cards. Great tip!
