Talking with Cathie Filian #140Saturday September 18, 2010
Talking with Cathie Filian, plus sharing with you what “I did this summer.”
I’m so excited to be back from vacation and sitting in the recording studio. Lots has happened in the CRAFTCAST™ studio during August. First was the big clean out and garage sale. More to come about that as the month unfolds. Plus a great time at the PMC conference at Purdue University, where I had the privilege of speaking in front of all the wonderful attendees about my favorite subject, finding the source of our creative inspiration. There was also 4 glorious days on Cape Cod with my little brother, my sister in-law and my 2 scrumptious nephews. (my “little” brother is anything but that, except in age. he’s a hunk. :)) I took a challenging metal forging class with Ed Brickman, and played with Marjorie Simon in another class doing some torch enameling. I love learning something new. It gets all my creative energies going when I’m challenged by a new skill. Oh and yes I got my first “black thumb” from slinging a hammer and hitting me instead of metal! Not fun.
Now for CRAFTCAST™ news. I’m so thrilled to watch this business grow and thank all of you for your support and interest in listening to the podcast and taking the LIVE online classes. That being said, I’m thrilled to announce a fall line up of really fabulous classes. Take a look below at the first 4 and click to sign up.
Oh and don’t forget, included with the cost of class, is a download of the complete class recording to watch again at your leisure. I rewatched Donna Penoyers class on Making Metal Clay Whistles a bunch this summer and worked along as Donna showed me the next step, pausing and starting when needed. I’m not that fast with the PMC…lol (Those recording are for sale over here, and i would let out a whistle or two looking at Donna’s)
Also, mark your calendars! On September 30th, I’ll be doing a live virtual lab over on the etsy.com site. Yep. I’ll be showing you through a live video feed the how-to on how to make the bracelet below. It will be an hour long free class and I’ll be explaining all the soldering basics. I’ll go over what you need and how to use it and you’ll leave with enough info to get started on your own. I’ll be taking questions, so come over and learn something new or just stop by and say howdy do ! Etsy.com sign up
Now, today’s show. I’m so excited to have spent some time with Cathie Filian. Cathie was my very first guest wayyyy back in March of 2006. We were both just starting new ventures. Listen to where crafting has taken Cathie today, and all her accomplishments. Plus hot of the internet, she has been booked to appear on the new Nate Berkus Show. Yay Cathie. We’ll be watching.
So, it’s good to be back and thanks to all of you for being there to listen. Got my butt in the chair and ready to go. Happy fall.
