Today I talk with author Elinor Kapp.

Her book, Rigmaroles & Ragamuffins, is a semantical visit to words and phrases that will make you think and LOL!

Two of my favorite:

Dyed in the wool
And
Frazzled

book

Both started their usage as phrases used in the textile industry and have hung on today with meanings derived from their roots in fiber.

Lots of word play fun!

Also, some favorite new books and music plus all the news here in the CRAFTCAST studio.

One Response to “Talking with Elinor Kapp!”

  1. What a fabulous show, with your wonderful guest from Wales, my old neck of the woods!
Here in England we have so many sayings, going back hundreds of years and nursery rhymes etc. We use these old saying taught to us by our parents and grand parents without really going into where these amazing words originate, but they are said anyway!
In the UK, each area has its own diolect and its own old sayings! The British talking to the British from other areas often haven’t a clue what the other is talking about?

I find these old saying facinating, and I think thats the reason I enjoy reading English classics going back to Dickens, and about 1840’s. I like to come across new words I have not heard of and trying to find out their meanings meanings?

To find out there is a book like this about textile meanings will now be added to my Christmas wish list!

Wales is such a magnifisent place to visit, with so much heritage which the Welsh are so proud of! There are so many professional artists who live there, and produce the most amazing hand made masterpieces! You can only be inspired by the natural beauty. There are a few ensentricities, and laws going back hundreds of years which still apply, ie, the sheep in Wales have the right of way on all the roads, no mater what direction they are traveling! In the Snowdonia area, the sheep have the right of way of every thing, specially my mums flowers, she carefully transplanted from Bournemouth, when we moved up there!

I would love to hear more of our wonderfully talented Welsh artisans being interviewed on your show! Thank you so much for finding out all these remarkable people to interview!

    Best regards
    nicky
