This was a GREAT interview. yes yes yes.
I was in the middle of working on a client design while listening to the latest Craftcast podcast (with Rice Freeman-Zachary) when you guys started talking about having a problem getting to sleep because your mind is too loud.
Listen - thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! I had to stop working, right then and there, and write. I end up pulling all nighters every three nights, like clockwork, because I just CANNOT fall asleep! I sleep with the the TV on so it’ll override my mind, but oftentimes I find my thoughts stubbornly just get that much louder. I get obsessive about colors palettes, about that gorgeous card I saw in the store, about that web design I’m doing, about how my new digital set would probably look better with that font than with this font… or maybe that font? Or, OH! THAT font!
I actually ended up talking to my doctor last week because I was concerned that something was wrong. He recommended a glass of red wine at night, and I know small amounts of red wine are healthy for you in many ways… but I *hate* alcohol! Oh noes!
My sweetie, on the other hand, has been helpfully suggesting various remedies, fretting over the situation with me - poor thing!
Anyway, I am SO playing that part of the show for him when he gets home. For some odd reason, it just made me feel SO SO much better. Now I’m not so worried that it’s problem so much as it’s just… well… my creative nature being stubborn about shutting down!
Because of this, I’m going to stop fretting so much, start being kinder and more understanding with it, let it have its say more and promise it, “Hey, look, I hear ya, really. Let me write this down, get a little rest, get recharged a bit, and tomorrow I will look at my notes and we’ll play with the ideas until they solidify.”
So much more at ease,
-Jessie

PS: I absolutely ADORE Abraham Hicks!! I was so tickled to see the linkage to them! :)
I came to your site, from Rice’s blog, which I found through Roz’s, to which I traveled from Danny Gregory’s podcast, and before that it’s a blur!
I loved listening to the interview, and I was drawing as I did so, something I started doing again yesterday, after a too long hiatus.
I’m pretty sure I used to be listen to your podcast, but don’t know what happened or how I lost track of it. Will immediately go to iTunes and resubscribe.
Thank you.
