Today I talk with mixed media/ polymer clay artist and owner of design studio Zingaro, Dayle Doroshow.
Dayle shares with me her method for getting those “creative sparks” flying in the studio.
The inspirations of the past ignite my imagination to create art in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Hi and thanks for the podcasts!
Have been listening them all easter while cleaning/remodelling my studio. Much more entertaining than with audiobooks :)
Who was the band/singer this week? I got occupied with life while listening?
This is partly a techniqal question as I use linux. When I click on the links for podacast they always start twice. Not a problem really, but also I can not fast forward the podcast like with windows. Thats why having the names of the artists/books etc. with the blog text would help to find them later.

Hi Porro,
Glad you enjoyed listening to CRAFTCAST!
I don’t know why it repeats twice, but try downloading the show through iTunes.(see link in show notes) That will give you more control. This weeks musical artist is Causeway, singing Endless Summer. Check out their CD in the CRAFTCAST store.
Hope that helps.
ps. as long as you download an episode first, you can have control over rewinding or pausing. hope that helps!
Thanks for the answers.
Ps. Itunes work only with mac or windows, not with linux
Ps. The craftcast store does not show that cd for me. Found it elswere though, thanks for the tip!
Hi Porro,
Sorry I didn’t get that in there in time. (It’s in there now) Glad you found it and like their music.
Alison

Hi Alison,
Your interview with Dayle was great! I’ve been greatly inspired by her and her work. I love the circle text poetry spark; must try that.
Thanks for all the inspiring interviews.

[...] I was listening to the CraftCast interview with Dayle Doroshow today, and I was struck by something. Dayle said that after talking to artists in various disciplines, she discovered that one of the things we all seem to have in common is a sorting activity. Sorting activities are often how artists begin their work. It struck a chord with me. I’ve just started reading Twyla Tharp’s book The Creative Habit, and she talks about the importance of establishing routine and a beginning ritual to put you in the right frame of mind. When I first read that, I couldn’t imagine what I currently do or could start doing that would be an appropriate creative starting ritual. [...]
