Lots of energy happening here in the CRAFTCAST studio!
The weather is definitely fall like, and the garden is
doing it’s finally bow.
CRAFTCAST’s online LIVE classes are very popular. If you haven’t done so already, take a look at the fall line up HERE.
Today I talk with Michael deMeng.
I’ve enjoyed Mr. deMeng’s collage work for years, so it was great to spend one-on-one time with him and hear about his creative process. His artist statement really resonated with me:
“My work is about transformations. It is about the transformation of the common into the sacred. Discarded materials find new and unexpected uses in my work; they are reassembled and conjoined with unlikely components, a form of rebirth from the ashes into new life and new meaning. These assemblages are metaphors for the evolutions and revolutions of existence: from life to death to rebirth, from new to old to renewed, from construction to destruction to reconstruction. These forms are examinations of the world in perpetual flux, where meaning and function are ever-changing.“
Thank you Michael for your time and insights.
You can check out his website HERE.
Also, some new books and a dvd to share with you. Check out the CRAFTCAST Amazon Store with all the links you need.

The Faux Bone class this past Monday night with Mr. Dancik was sooooo wonderful! Lot’s of how-to plus new never info on how to add color to Faux Bone!
Please email pictures of what you make so I can share them with everyone.
This Monday, September 21st, at 8:00PM EST, Robert will once again lead us through another great class called: Forming Meaningful and Lasting Connections
It was in this class last time that I finally learned to rivet, which I love and use all the time in my jewelry construction.

above: Robert Dancik at work
Robert covers a variety of ways to cold connect one thing to another, no matter what the medium. He shows examples of how to connect polymer clay, metal clay, silver, cement, plastic, paper mache and whatever you can think of, as well as inspiring and challenging us as to what are we ’saying’ with our piece by the connections we use. Lots of information to think about…
If you haven’t tried a LIVE online class yet, give it a try. We have a great time. Here are some comments from Monday’s class:
I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much I enjoyed the webinar last night! I learned several things new, had a few good laughs, and best of all, it got my creative juices flowing with excitement! J You were a wonderful hostess and Robert was a delight to listen to. I look forward to the next one and thank you again! ~S.

I was in the webinar last night and really learned a lot! Have been experimenting with faux bone all morning! Did you say Robert is doing a webinar on rivets? I would love to take it. Please let me know if it is coming up soon. Thanks, S.

I’m so excited to finally be offering this LIVE on line class with Robert.
If you don’t know about Faux Bone, it’s time to learn, and if you want to get more info about it from the guru himself, then this is the class for you.
Mr. D will be covering all the how-to’s, plus tons of inspiring examples of what you can do with the material. (it is some kind of a poly substance that looks like old ivory to me)
Robert also just told me that in this class he will also be giving brand new information on how to now add color to the material. Woo Hoo! Sign me up.
Remember, since it is a LIVE class, there will be lots of time to ask questions, so plug in a mic if you want to talk, or just type away in the chat box. Either way, you’ll be heard!
Even more fun is in store for 3 lucky participants who will win one of the following GIVEAWAYS!
1. Robert’s new book: Amulets and Talismans
2. Robert’s new DVD: Faux Bone Jewelry Tools and Techniques with Robert Dancik
