Walking the aisles at the CHA conference in January, I ran into Sherri Haab.
Standing right there she reached into her bag and pulled out her latest product, (invented by her husband Dan) a copper etching kit.
Lucky for me, Sherri gave me one to experiment with. I had been fascinated by the etching process since the article in Jewelry Artist Magazine back in December.
It was easy to use and I love the results. I experimented with applying the image using a Sharpie™ marker. Sherri also included transfer stickers to try. (that’s next)
I finished it off by applying Tripoli with a polishing wheel.

Making art sometimes feels like making a big pot of soup, everything is going in!
This week, in my fiber group, I did just that. We combined tissue paper, dyes, paint, threads, fabric bits, and random pieces of sparkle.
I included a piece of clear cellophane I covered with different paints and then took a heat gun to until it was a quarter of its original size.
Now I want to scan a finished piece and print it on a material using Golden’s Digital Ground emulsion.
Then the layering process can continue with embroidery and more embellishing!

I love when I fall effortlessly into a book.
And so it goes with this one: Our Life in Gardens
I am securely transported to a place I could spend many hours, that of plotting, planning, learning and discussing all things gardening.
I know there is a saying that everything you need to know for a good life you learn in kindergarten. I think everything you need to know about relationships can be understood by gardening…

Lots of snow melted in my backyard yesterday.
A small flash of crimson on the ground caught my eye as I entered the studio.
As the snow melted around it, this little guy popped up.
(Maybe flash frozen last December???)
