The past few days I’ve been visiting family in Minnesota.
I made a stop at the Walker Art Center and saw the Eero Saarinen exhibit. I’m drawn to that whole design period in history. Seeing design from this time period is what inspired me to go to Art Center College.

The outside sculpture garden is filled with of variety of pieces.
Below is a picture of my favorite. (couldn’t resist including my fingers)

I also spent sometime, 4 hours north, in a little town called Nashwauk. The population is about 1000.
I felt I went back in time, enjoying the slow pace and isolated experience.
Below is a picture of the Hawkins Mine, which operated from 1902 - 1062, having shipped out 25 million tons of iron ore in its functioning days.
It’s now a lake, and brilliantly picturesque.

A trip to the area would not be complete without a horse drawn wagon ride at my cousin Liisa’s reindeer farm.
Two beautiful Fjords, Elvis and Odin, pulled us through the woods.
Right now, with all that is going on globally, politically, and economically, it’s easy to get creatively paralyzed! We are bombarded with a constant overload of information, continually forcing us to make new choices and wrestle with hard decisions. It is no surprise how artists are finding themselves overwhelmed or paralyzed at even the thought of sitting down in the studio to create. Even our muse needs some time at the ‘spa’!
This is the starting point for the next MasterClass : Creative Sparks with Dayle Doroshow
“Inspiration comes from doing. Do something, then do something to that and then do something to that.”Jasper Johns
That’s the message that fuels Dayle as she leads us through a variety of interactive exercises designed to engage the creative part of the soul that may be fearful or tired, or wondering if it’s safe to come out and play.
Topics include:
• Inspiration- Finding the Kernel of an Idea • The Care and Feeding of Ideas • How ‘Mistakes’ Become Fuel • There are No Roadblocks
In this 90 minute workshop, Ms. Doroshow will lead us through exercises specifically designed to ignite that creative spark in all of us.
Whether you participate online or by phone, take time to tune-up or tweak your creative habit.
This workshop is interactive with a follow along handout emailed to you and a visual internet slide presentation during the workshop, plus an opportunity to ask Dayle your own question.

Diane is a blogger, a podcaster, and most importantly a serious crafter.
We spent sometime talking about it all, a little tech talk, some craft talk, and what comes up in in between doing it all.
I also have a book to recommend as well as a DVD that has me eager to try making some “Bali Lanterns.”
Don’t forget to sign up for the next MasterClass, Creative Sparks with Dayle Doroshow.
Regardless of what is going on politically, economically, globally, and technically, this morning I was reminded of a phrase uttered in 1967 at Woodstock by Gracie Slick,
Ms. Croninger is a pioneer in the art of creating with polyester resin, crafting brilliant pieces of jewelry in breath taking color palettes.
I first fell in love with her work in Soho NY, in a gallery called “ArtWear”.
It was an honor to spend time chatting with such an inspiring artist.
