I am passionate about folk art and toys, and Tom’s work has both qualities. His automata kinetic art boxes celebrate the simple things in life in a playful and endearing manner. I love when art makes me smile and laugh out loud!

I hate dust and anything to do with dusting, but Scott uses the obnoxious build-up as a canvas for his art! Take a look at his constantly evolving work, it is all sketched into dust!
Dust, dew, dirt and anything else that accumulates on the surface adds to the patina.
This is a life analogy for me, “Work with what you got!”.
Thanks Scott for the reminder that art is everywhere!

Living in NYC , I often come across old advertising on the sides of buildings. While I study the beauty of the old graphic remains, I am transported to a different time and place. I find it a calming retreat, in the middle of a highly motivated city and a complex universe, to reflect on a time when life was more direct and seemingly simpler. Hope you find some “ghost signs” in your surroundings to reflect on!

Julian makes his art sketching with chalk, with cement sidewalks his canvas. Not only that, he knows how to do the perspective in such a way that when viewed from the correct position, it is a 3D experience!
I’ve come across some of these in NYC. What a visual treat!

Start the week off with artistic inspiration! Go to metalmarks.net and look at the gallery of work by Brooke Mark-Swanson. I love each piece more then the one before. The colors combinations are exciting, and the surface textures of the metal are alluring.
Thanks Brooke for getting my creative energy jump started!

Global warming, winter warming, whatever it is, it adds up to no snow! These “thread paintings” reminded me of what winter use to look like. Ms. Margulis uses a sewing machine’s needle for a painter’s brush and creates rich, realistic, dimensional landscapes.
Thank you Natalia for the “snow day”!
