Susan says about her work, “I want my pieces to look like they just took a deep breath”. I fell in love with her color palettes and layering of textures. Check out her site for pillows, runners, tapestries, and screens!

These pictures caught my attention! A giant knitting machine! I wonder if he knitted a swatch first to check the gauge. Dave Cole has a lot of interesting projects on his website. Here is what he has to say about himself:
Dave Cole was born in New Hampshire, where he grew up working in his grandfather’s blacksmith shop.
Dave can usually be found in his Providence Studio, unless he is on the road in his mobile studio: a 1969 Airstream Trailer.
Maybe he will take on a big crochet hook next!

When I first saw a one of Ms. Breitman’s pieces hanging at a show, I thought a beautiful landscape photograph was seducing me. As I went in for a closer look, I realized that the image was not photographic at all, but was made entirely of fabric and paper!
“I am committed to expressing how light interacts with form and the task of fooling the eye. Thousands of pieces of fabric are often contained in each work. Attention to detail is my way of capturing viewers, bringing them in closer so that details meld into shapes and color – which is often the case when we contemplate an object”, states Laura.
I find her technique and creativity, magical and inspiring!

Check out these “stuffed animals” by Betsy Youngquist. It was love at first site for me, when I saw the “beast” at the Philadelphia Crafts Fair. Betsy totally covers each one of these creatures with thousands and thousands of beads and found objects.
Younguist says “This work reflects my interest in the intersection of humans, animals, and mythology, as well as my belief that wisdom can be gained through attending to the living world around us.”
I think it is truly genius to see what someone can do with seed beads, creativity and imagination!

I found Graceann Warn’s work extremely inspiring! Ms Warn uses a process called “encaustic” combined with her assemblages. The encaustic process is an ancient technique that combines melted beeswax, dry pigment and resin. It is applied in a molten state and as it cools it dries to a hard permanent surface. Graceann continues to re-heat and work this layer by scratching into the surface as well as applying oil sticks until the desire result is achieved. I found her work to have depth and soul! Check out her site: www.graceannwarn.com.

This weekend I spent sometime at the Philadelphia Crafts Fair and discovered the work of Chris Roberts-Antieau! I had to take the time to look at every piece more than once. I laughed and smiled my way through her whole booth! Chris works in appliqué as well as colored pencil. Her humor and point of view is unique, endearing and elegantly playful! Here are just 2 of her pieces that I loved. Not only is the art amazing, but the one-of -a -kind frame completes the whole piece! Check out her site: www.chrisroberts-antieau.com.

Check out the patterns for these felted bags! Exciting to look at and colors that pop, and make you smile. Nora Bellows says “Noni bags are bags to be worn, not just carried. They are, like jewelry or any adornment, extensions of our personalities.”
Everyone of them is a little piece of art!
