The class recording of Brenda Schweder’s Found and Captured Bezels class is now for sale on the recording page. I loved learning all about steel wire.
Here is a preview of what Brenda showed us.
I love that RING!!!!
Once you purchase the recording it it’s yours and downloads to your desktop. I watched and worked along! Lots of fun.
The first night of Michael David Sturlin’s, The Art of the Pierced Pendant, was better then I thought possible. This is a new skill for me, so I didn’t think I was up to the task, but Michael breaks down the steps in such a doable way I have started my first pierced pendant.
So I’m excited and even though this was originally a 2 part class, I’ve decided to let students sign up for just the 2nd part. You can see in the video below a bit of what we have covered and some of what the students in class are doing!!!
On the 2nd night Michael is going to cover lots of design info plus tips and problem solving help on creating your own pierced pendant.
Don’t miss spending an evening LIVE online with Mr. Sturlin. His zen like approach plus his wisdom and expertise on the subject of sawing and piercing is truly special!!!!
Class starts at 8:00pm EST. The cost is $39.95 which includes a link to download the full class recording to your desktop.
Ms. Fisch learned to sew and weave from her mother and fell hard for the color red. Growing up in New York, she studied at Skidmore College, receiving her B.S. in Art. Arline Fisch is best known for her crocheted wire works. We talked about her love of “the dramatic” and how it effects her work. Thank you Arline for your generous sharing!
Also, the latest news here in the studio, and upcoming plans here at CRAFTCAST.

I’m getting ready for a road trip. I’m packing the car with more
then I need, and loading up my iPhone with music and podcasts
and hitting the highway. I’m looking forward to time in my car to
think out loud and sing out loud. Destination, Baltimore, Maryland, Synergy 2010
Click the link to read up on the event. It’s 4 days worth of
creative workshops and lectures and social soirees. My idea of
a good time. I’m looking forward to being with friends I
made at the last conference, and making new ones as well.
I’ll be speaking on a few panels plus giving the closing keynote
speech which is a brand new experience for me…
but I do enjoy talking into a mic…lol
Today I talk with studio jeweler and writer, Bruce Metcalf.
I had such a wonderful time talking with Mr. Metcalf. A big thank you to Bruce for sharing with me his insights and knowledge on the topic of “craft”, and I look forward to reading his upcoming book, Makers: A History of American Studio Craft, this coming summer!
Below is a sampling of some of his work. Makes me smile just looking at the pictures!
Also, lots of books and magazines to talk about and some stories to tell.
This is the first class of the new year and it is with the fabulously talented assemblage artist, Michael deMeng.

Here is what Michael has to say about his work:
“My work is about transformations. It is about the transformation of the common into the sacred. Discarded materials find new and unexpected uses in my work; they are reassembled and conjoined with unlikely components, a form of rebirth from the ashes into new life and new meaning. These assemblages are metaphors for the evolutions and revolutions of existence: from life to death to rebirth, from new to old to renewed, from construction to destruction to reconstruction. These forms are examinations of the world in perpetual flux, where meaning and function are ever-changing.”

This is an opportunity to spend TWO 90 minute sessions LIVE Online with Michael as he shares with us his creative process, and instructs us on his unique approach to the assemblage process. Once registered for class, you will also have access to an online forum for you to post your work, thoughts, and questions for Michael in between class sessions. (Everyone who registers for class also receives a full class recording to download to your desktop so you can listen and watch again.)
I’m excited.
