Today I talk with author Elinor Kapp.
Her book, Rigmaroles & Ragamuffins, is a semantical visit to words and phrases that will make you think and LOL!
Two of my favorite:
Dyed in the wool
And
Frazzled

Both started their usage as phrases used in the textile industry and have hung on today with meanings derived from their roots in fiber.
Lots of word play fun!
Also, some favorite new books and music plus all the news here in the CRAFTCAST studio.

It’s all about alignment.
That’s my focus these days.
I think it is true that the more we “feel” in alignment,
the happier we are.
And then, we are happier because
we are aligned with what we were meant to be doing.
Easy, right?
Here is the dictionary definition of alignment that I like:
an arrangement of groups or forces in relation to one another
Leaves a lot of room for interpretation.
When I was working as an art director on photo shoots, unknowing visitors would ask me what an art director actually did.
Considering that much of my time was spent chatting with the crew, and enjoying the catered table of goodies, I could see the reason for their confusion.
My best answer was always:
“Go to a photo shoot without an art director,
and see what happens.”
It was all about keeping the groups alignment.
Keeping it all on track.
Reflecting on this past Monday nights online class with Tim McCreight, alignment is what came up for me.
I had an “Ah Ha” moment when Tim talked about how it wasn’t the designated name of the tool that mattered but what the tool could accomplish, the “essence” of the tool sort of speak, the alignment of that tool with the metal.
I’m looking at all my tools differently now.
How do they want to align with their purpose,
or like the dictionary definition:
an arrangement of groups or forces in relation to one another
hmmmmmmm

Last week was not easy.
Thank you everyone for all your emails and comments.
It was so helpful!
Even though I was so called prepared for the inevitable,
sadness has such a long reach and finds no boundaries.
I am blessed by the people in my life who
helped and comforted me.
There is no other remedy that aids in healing like true friendship.
So…
My brain is very clear that my aged Akita, is better off in another place, having let go of her arthritic body.
My brain knows that she lived a long and happy life.
My brain knows that in time the sadness will dissipate,
And my brain knows somewhere in my future, a new puppy will once again capture my heart.
But for now,
my heart is working to catch up to my brain…
And I’m a little winded.
But …
I’m back in my studio, moving slowly, feeling grateful,
and catching my breath.
XO

I’m trying to get grounded.
It’s going slowly.
Coming home from a whirl wind trip to Las Vegas has my head still chi-chinging like a slot machine.
A simple case of emotion and sensory overload. (all good)
So… I’m off for a walk at Hook Mountain. Clear my head. Lots of deep breaths. I’m fortunate to live next store to such a grand park!
Off I go.
See you tomorrow.

(I can hardly wait to share all the new classes I’ve been putting together.)
