Faux Bone Rings and Things

In this live webinar we explore fabricating rings from Faux Bone™. Faux Bone™ can be cut and carved, sawn and sanded. It can be filed, hammered, polished, drilled, stamped, inlayed, dyed, and painted. You can heat and bend it with nothing more than a small embossing heat-gun. It is so strong you can rivet on it, die form right into it, or hammer metal around it. Robert will demonstrate techniques on how to achieve various patinas, plus new ways to add color to your work.

A Bead Like No Other
with Robert Dancik

In this fast paced, low tech workshop, you will explore making hollow form beads that are extremely durable, easy to make and utterly unique. Using materials as common as Plexiglas, as new as Faux Bone™ and as unexpected as bicycle reflectors and lighting lenses you will learn how to form hollow beads of varying sizes and shapes.
After they are formed, you will learn how to include other materials such as metal clays, epoxy resins and putties, polymer clay and rock-like paper pulp, as part of the bead. You will also learn how to cut windows into the beads to reveal words, images or any thing else you may want to place behind the window or inside the bead. The surfaces of the beads can be cut, carved, and textured: or they can be sanded to a smooth matte, or polished to a high shine.

Silver Metal Clay 101

Create metal clay silver charms using a variety of texturing tools including found objects, texture plates, fabric and leather stamping tools. Replicate textures and collectables such as antique buttons by making silicone putty rubber molds, which will be demonstated. The class also includes how to add a patina to the silver to emphasize the details of the texture. The finished charms are richly embellished and ready to attach to a bracelet or chain. Ms. Haab will also explain tools and firing options, including sources for her favorite tools.
